Raspberry is rich in iron and calcium and contains phosphorus and manganese – all helpful supplements in a woman’s diet.  Not only is raspberry excellent for a safe and easy childbirth, it is also recommended for a weak stomach.  It even helps relieve the discomfort of morning sickness because it contains tannins that are effective for nausea, vomiting and diarrhea.
Raspberry has traditionally been used for women, especially during pregnancy, to strengthen the uterus, prevent nausea and hemorrhage, reduce pain during childbirth, and enrich colostrum found in breast milk.  Its use for pregnant women is supported by physicians throughout Europe, since it helps strengthen the entire reproductive system (although excess dosages should be avoided while pregnant).  For women who are not pregnant, raspberry can help with menstrual problems as well as miscarriage or a prolapsed uterus.
Scientific research has proven the value of raspberry for women.  One of the properties discovered, fragarine, was found to have a relaxing effect on the pelvic and uterine muscles.  It is also proven to have a balancing effect on hormone levels and has been shown to promote tissue healing, especially in the cervix.  Because of the healing aspects of the leaves, they are also used for after-birth pains.
Raspberry helps soothe the stomach and gastrointestinal system, and it is a wonderful herb for treating children for colds, diarrhea, colic, fever and other childhood diseases.  Studies indicate that raspberry contains antiviral properties to help fight viral diseases such as herpes and the flu.
The soothing properties of raspberry are also helpful – especially when it is applied externally to sores and skin irritations, and it has been used to promote healthy skin, teeth and bones, as well as heart health.  It can also be used as an eyewash.  As a refrigerant, using raspberry in water with honey can help with fevers.
